Neural Audio, a partner with Harris Corporation, provides advanced audio processing technology that is utilized with Harris Core Processing products such as the 6800+ flexible modular products, the NEO advanced system products and the X75 Multiple Path Converter and Synchronizer.

Neural Audio products key features and benefits:

Economy — enables you to move to 5.1 surround sound using your stereo audio infrastructure.

Processing — add an “up convert” to your audio signal while up converting your video signal.

Improved “audio experience” — any audio signal can be processed to a pleasing 5.1 before compressing at the Dolby® Digital (AC-3) encoder and the loudness changes between programs can be eliminated.

These new audio processing products enable the television broadcaster to provide an improved audio experience in the home.

Techniques such as down mixing with watermarking, up mixing and loudness control are now available.

Down mixing with watermarking allows the carriage of surround sound audio over stereo infrastructure with up mixing occurring before the distribution of audio utilizing Dolby Digital AC-3 encoding. Up mixing any audio signal at the same point in the system provides surround sound at all times. The down mixed stereo signal may also be up mixed in the home using the latest generation receiver/amplifiers.

Loudness Control has always been an issue for television. Using new audio processing techniques, it is possible to provide an analysis and measurement of the “loudness” of a signal using industry standards with enhanced methods using human perception analysis.
