Modern transit agencies increasingly communicate real-time information such as schedules, upcoming events and relevant emergency information to their customer's using signage. As technologies have evolved customers have become accustomed to location relevant, instant news, weather and traffic information.
Passengers increasingly are demanding that such relevant information be made available across transportation infrastructures. The transportation industry is unique in that the relevance of weather, traffic and emergency information can be quite different across their entire network. For example school closings, traffic jams, and network delays are not necessarily relevant to the entire network.
For many transit networks the question is how to build a information network which provides the right information to the right location at the right time and on the right display while automating as much of the relevant information flow as possible.
